Kanan has to deliver Jacen on the Ghost and he gets so scared that Hera gives him the instruction DURING labor
Jacen is born on Mother’s Day and his middle name is Ezra
Kanan cried at least 274738 rivers when Jacen arrived. Kanan realized he isn’t a Jedi anymore, he’s a father and he’s finally at peace
Kanan stayed up all night just to hold Jacen and thank the Force profusely for this moment
Kanan has to change his shirt or pants at least once a day because of Jacen
Kanan is the parent that makes the S I L L I E S T faces
Cham bursts into tears when he notices Jacen’s pointed ears (“Just like his grandfather’s”)
Cham NEVER gets impatient with Jacen
Cham is a god when it comes to singing Twi'lek lullabies
Cham is the most overprotective of Jacen but Kanan is a close second
Chan gives Jacen Hera’s baby blanket when he comes home
Cham is fascinated by Jacen’s hair because “it’s just so…weird but amazing”
Here are some add-ons that I just thought of! There is a story in this but I completely forgot how to write a full fanfiction or any fiction meaning there won’t be any transitions in between them so if you want to add something there, be my guest!
- Kanan, Hera, Chopper, and Cham “move” to Vreni Island in Corellia
- They are reassigned to the island country to run the place as a safe haven for refugees/other insurgents before it officially converted to a Rebel stronghold
- The three promised themselves that they would never leave Corellia until the day they died. The entire process of getting to Vreni Island was just pure luck.
- Kanan ALMOST broke this promise when he found out what Ezra did in Lothal but he couldn’t bear to imagine Jacen without him
- The four move into a large beach house that has a perfect view of the shoreline
- During Jacen’s birth, Cham couldn’t stop asking “where’s his leeku?” multiple times
- But Cham ignored that by the time he held him for the first time
- Jacen’s first word would be “mama”
obviously - Jacen’s name means “healer”. They named him that because he was the one that helped Kanan and Hera heal their mental wounds from everything that happened
- All three of them would tell stories of their adventures right before Jacen’s bedtime.
- Beach days are the most fun family outings. Holidays like Christmas and Halloween were the second most fun days for the family.
- Unfortunately, the rest of the Ghost crew couldn’t visit often because smuggling three insurgents from Lothal to Corellia was challenging enough
- Ezra would burst into tears when he found out Jacen’s middle name then he calls Kanan and Hera “Mom and Dad”
- Zeb would be worried that he was gonna crush Jacen but he gets the hang of everything quickly. Jacen loved taking naps with him.
- Sabine would paint a self-portrait of him every time she could see him and she was the one that influenced the green hair color in the future
- Kanan recovered at Vreni Island in a bacta tank for about two months. When Hera told him that she was pregnant, he yelled in joy, “I knew it!”.
- Whenever Jacen was in a bad mood and his parents weren’t around, Chopper would play an audio recording of Kanan or Hera singing to calm him down until somebody arrived
- Kanan and Cham are the chefs of the house.
- Hera is a side sleeper and she almost always faces Jacen’s crib. When he would cry during the night, she would just talk to him until Kanan or her got up.
- Jacen was afraid of lightning back then. Hera and Kanan had a complete STRATEGY on this and many back up plans. They called it Operation: Bad Light.
- If Hera had to take Jacen with her to the stronghold, she would show him the stars and show him around the Ghost and Phantom to get him to fall asleep.
- Whenever somebody would give Jacen anything that was pilot related, that would make Hera’s day. She cried with joy when Kanan got Jacen a onesie that said “co-pilot” on the front.
- Jacen was popular at the stronghold but Kanan and Hera are VERY cautious with who is allowed to hold him, feed him, change him, etc.
- After Jacen would get shots, Cham would take over the rest of the day as his parents would take much needed naps and take headache medicine
- Jacen and Kanan do look very similar. One time, she found them sleeping almost exactly similar.
- Jacen would enjoy interacting with Cham and Hera’s lekku. They would too until he starts to get a bit too rough with them.
- Kanan would propose to Hera with wedding rings that contained pure thorilide crystals from Gorse and Cynda, where they first met. They don’t have a wedding because they wouldn’t have the time for one and the thought of never being able to go on a honeymoon would depress them. He would take her last name.
- He doesn’t serve the Force at all anymore. He is COMPLETELY retired from everything. He mentally checked out from that as soon as Jacen was born.
- Raising a baby blind was tough at first but then he developed Force Sight and then his parenting skills just skyrocketed.
- Kanan keeps his lightsaber completely locked away somewhere where nobody but him could find it.
- Kanan is normally the one that chooses Jacen’s outfits for him. His Force Sight doesn’t tell colors apart so matching colors is Hera’s department.
- He also starts to learn Ryl through Hera and Cham.
- He was offered to get cybernetic eyes yet he refused because “those are too fancy plus they would scare my baby half to death”.
(I have ideas for Dawn and a third child but any lists for them aren’t coming anytime soon)
bringing this back since apparently it’s the anniversary of “Dume” or something. also, I’m not dead! Plus…here’s more headcanons that make more sense!
- Kanan recovers in Vreni Island from his burn wounds and the Rebellion (or whoever ran it I haven’t watched the show in years) pays for the surgery and whatnot
- Cham packs his bags & moves to Vreni Island to be a grandfather. He retired on the spot after hearing the news.
- Cham & Kanan eventually hash everything out and start to build a healthy relationship
- Hera’s cravings always came at the worst times
- Jacen was born on the Ghost and Cham delivers him as Kanan freaks out
- Newborn Jacen felt a tad uncomfortable to Kanan at first but warms up quickly.
- Kanan is always eager to hold and care for Jacen whenever he needs to
- His heart just melts and has the biggest smile when Jacen’s around
- Their favorite thing to do with Jacen is have pretend conversations. (i.e. Jacen: *coos* / Hera: Really? Oh tell me more. / Kanan: you’re SO funny / Cham: Oh don’t say THAT around your mother…)
- Learning how to change diapers blind was rough and very messy for Kanan
- Cham always asks questions about humans if he’s with Jacen. (i.e. “Do they always have eyebrows?”)
- Because humans still perplex him
- Cham also tells Jacen “my goodness, you’ve grown so big!” every day
- & gives Jacen head massages because hair is weird
- The new family lived in the Ghost for about two weeks until they moved to the developing secret Rebellion hideout in Vreni Island.
- Kanan and Hera cried as they entered their new on-base housing due to all of the space and an actual kitchen
- Kanan buys as many cookbooks as he can too
- They almost always embrace in bed and sleep “together” now since the Ghost only had one bed cabins
- Kanan and Hera felt slightly agoraphobic after the move-in since they were afraid of being outted by anybody/being found by the Empire. Cham ran almost all of their errands for the time being and really enjoyed himself. He makes new friends in a heartbeat.
- Kanan has it worse because he’s supposed to be dead
- Hera is more paranoid because she only wants her boys safe and sound
- Hera only goes out for Jacen’s sake (i.e. check-ups, walks, etc.)
- It took a lot of convincing from Hera and Cham to convince him to come out
- Their favorite place is the beach
- Delicacies like ice cream is everyone’s Kryptonite. they’re always buying and trying new flavors.
- Kanan occasionally acts in the local theater and helps out at the base if need be
- Hera trains the pilots but goes abroad for important missions (a la Battle of Endor)
- Cham is a trainer of sorts since he has so much military experience
- Kanan also gets into video games and tries to play when he can
